Thinking of taking up gliding? You won’t really know if it’s for you or not unless you give it a go, so we offer trial membership packages. If you have never been gliding before, a trial membership flight with a qualified gliding instructor can be a lot of fun and an unforgettable experience. We will give you two instructional flights and you have to be prepared to handle the controls under supervision. Trust us, it’s not that tricky.
Our trial membership package includes two instructional flights and membership of the club for three months, during which time all your flights and instruction are at standard club rates. We hope you’ll stay on and keep learning but you’re under no obligation to do so.
The price for all this is $150. We think it’s a bargain.
You can book flights for any weekend day but please note that we won’t know if the weather will cooperate until a day or two before each weekend. Once you’ve paid, the booking is valid for a year so even if the weather doesn’t co-operate on a particular day, we can definitely take you flying on another day.
We don’t offer gift vouchers but if you pay for a trial membership package by internet banking (see below), we’ll have a record of your payment and will confirm your purchase any time you wish to fly. We fly most weekends, as long as the weather cooperates.
How to pay?
- Bring cash to the airfield on the day of your flight
- Use internet banking. Our bank account is 02-0640-0048213-000. Use your surname and “TF” as the reference.
What happens next?
Our booking system is fairly relaxed, so
- Confirm that we’ve received your payment if you’ve used internet banking (email to gliding.wairarapa@gmail.com).
- Check here to see if we’re flying.
- If we’re flying, there will be a contact number listed, so send a txt to that number to let the instructor know. Do this before 10pm on the day before you want to fly.
- Check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
- If you’re delayed or can’t make it, use the same contact number to let the instructor know. You might not get a reply – parts of the airfield have no cellphone coverage.
